Sambar Powder


 Dry red chillies  - 2 cups

Asafoetida  - 1 tsp

Bengal gram(chana dal)   - ¼ cup

Black peppercorns  - 10

Oil   - 1 tbsp

Coriander  - ¾ cup

Yellow lentil(arhar/tuvar dal)   - ¼ cup

Salt to taste




·       Roast the dry red chillies in oil with a little salt.


·       Roast all the other ingredients and mix with the roasted chillies.



·       Powder all the ingredients and store in an air-tight jar.
